The truth hurts!
I can't help but hear God call out the injustice of modern day preaching that lacks a prophetic word (prosperity gospel).
If someone showed up with a good smile and glib tongue
and told lies from morning to night--
‘I’ll preach sermons that will tell you
how you can get anything you want from God:
More money, the best wines . . . you name it’--
you’d hire him on the spot as your preacher!
The conviction of this type of preaching reminds me of how hard it is to preach God's word.
Sometimes in this truth telling God brings about hope of restoration.
“I’m calling a meeting, Jacob.
I want everyone back—all the survivors of Israel.
I’ll get them together in one place--
like sheep in a fold, like cattle in a corral--
a milling throng of homebound people!
Then I, God, will burst all confinements
and lead them out into the open.
They’ll follow their King.
I will be out in front leading them.”
God is sending a future king that will bring in the reign of God not the fortunes of an earthly kingdom but one of God's eternal kingdom. Micah calls forth the prophecy of the Messiah, Jesus, the King of Kings. Which is Good News for all of us...even if it means bad news for our own prosperity.
