"When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars that you have established," marveled the poet in Psalm 8, "what are human beings that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them?" Indeed, what is a human being? A person is part and parcel of God's creation; related to the dust under one's feet and all creatures that roam the earth. But a human being is also the crowning glory of life. As David wrote : "You have made them a little lower than angels, and crowned them with glory and honor. You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet..." (Psalm 8:5-6). Truly, people are a reflection of God.
How many forms of life can you name?
In what ways do we differ from our pets?
What does it mean to be human?
PRAYER: O God, from whom all life has come, teach us to love and respect life in all forms and shapes and colors. -AMEN!
