May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be pleasing to you, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer. Psalm 19:14
I’ve heard preachers pray this prayer before they preach a sermon. It’s certainly a fitting prayer shared in a corporate setting.
But today I’m praying this prayer about my everyday words, thoughts, and feelings. My words and attitudes in a meeting. At home. With friends and colleagues. With strangers on the phone. With people across the street.
May my words and attitudes be pleasing to God. May he shape me today so that my words and attitudes reflect his heart. May he guard my words and attitudes so that they are empowered with his grace and love. He’s my rock—the foundation that keeps me grounded. He’s my redeemer—the one who gave himself to make right with God.
