No pagan god is like you, O Lord.
None can do what you do!
All the nations you made
will come and bow before you, Lord;
they will praise your holy name.
For you are great and perform wonderful deeds.
You alone are God.
Teach me your ways, O Lord,
that I may live according to your truth!
Grant me purity of heart,
so that I may honor you.
With all my heart I will praise you, O Lord my God.
I will give glory to your name forever,
for your love for me is very great.
You have rescued me from the depths of death.
Observation: The psalmist invites the Lord to teach The Lord's ways to God's people. This invitation is communal and individual. the reason is to live according to God's truth.
Application: I'm getting back in the rhythm of devotions starting this week. For reasons and seasons, I have gotten out of this rhythm. Interestingly enough, here is today's reading. BAM!
What does it mean to invite the Lord to teach me God's ways?
I am reminded of the reading in Isaiah 55, the prophet tells from God's mouth..."My thoughts are not your thoughts and My ways are not your ways."
inviting God into teaching me The Way is to be guided by God in relationship to hear God's promises and provide a way of living that looks more like God's kingdom than the ways of this world.
Prayer: Lord I thank you for the timing of this lesson in the hearing of your word. Guide me into your ways and thoughts so that I might live according to your truth.
