Scripture: 1 John 2:1-6 Click here for the reading

Observation: This scripture, as well as my huddle this morning, reminds me of the covenant triangle.  Christ's advocacy is to plead in favor of us to the father. "But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love him. That is how we know we are living in him."  The relationship of covenant reminds us that obedience, comes from our identity, and our identity comes from the father.

Application: In our huddle this morning, we talked about the difference between being claimed and being orphaned.  As children of God, we are able to live into this reality.  As orphans we are tempted to shy away from God's claim on our lives.  When Christ is our advocate, he speaks on our behalf, as the only righteous one, to make us righteous.

We lose sight of our identity.  Jesus speaks to the Father on our behalf.

Prayer: PTL that Jesus reminds us that we are God's children.
